Adenosine is a well-characterized endogenous anticonvulsant and seizure terminator of the
brain. Through a combination of adenosine receptor-dependent and-independent
mechanisms, adenosine affects seizure generation (ictogenesis), as well as the
development of epilepsy and its progression (epileptogenesis). Maladaptive changes in
